Report of Technical Assistance to the Rescue Operation in Damaged Site by Sediment Related Disaster Caused by the Iwate-Miyagi Nairiku Earthquake in 2008

Report Date: March 2009

This report details the technical assistance done by NRIFD to assist fire brigades during search and rescue operations after the 2008 earthquake. NRIFD conducted aerial and field investigations and analyzed the potential risks of secondary issues and suggested mitigation measures. Results and analysis of the investigation are presented and solutions to technical problems that will make future operations more effective are discussed.
