Interactive ALIVE Training from NYU-Poly

Research is being performed in the fire sciences that can improve firefighter safety and advance fire operations. While much of this research has a positive effect on firefighting, other invaluable information does not reach the fire service. The NYU-Poly Fire Research Group has teamed with a number of fire departments and research organizations to create a set of interactive on-line training tools titled ALIVE (Advanced Learning through Integrated Visual Environments). The training is intended to help disseminate research information to firefighters. There are three specific modules of training: Fire Dynamics, Fires in Modern Lightweight Residential Construction, and Wind-Driven High-Rise Fires. The interactive training takes firefighters through decision making, firefighter safety, and firefighting tactics.
