Global Fire Research

The Worldwide Library of Fire Knowledge

Global Fire Research is the free, comprehensive, and truly global resource for firefighters and researchers. It is a multilingual library of the latest fire related research and investigations, as well as an archive of existing information, from organizations around the world.

The site is intended for researchers and firefighters alike to share information and foster discussion in order to advance and promote more effective and safer fire operations around the world. To be most effective, the site relies on researchers to share their latest work and firefighters to share applications of the research.

The Research section is a collection of structural, wildland, and vehicle fire related research from around the world. Topics include fire behavior, tactical considerations such as ventilation and suppression, building construction, personal protective equipment, fire protective systems, and human behavior.

Each project contains a link to the full research documentation, applications, and discussions about the project. The intent is to share information and foster discussion in order to advance and promote more effective and safer fire operations around the world.

The Investigations section is a collection of firefighter injury and fatality investigations from structural, wildland, and training incidents. These investigations, used in conjunction with the research, should be used to learn from tragedy in an effort to avoid similar losses in the future.

The Organizations section is a list of organizations from around the world that have generated the valuable fire related research. Along with a short description of each organization is contact information and a link to the organization’s website.
